  • Bear McCreary : un article sur le génial compositeur américain Bear McCreary, très célèbre pour avoir composé les musiques de la série à succès "BattleStar Galactica", où il utilise énormément le duduk. il est d'origine arménienne.

    "Battlestar Galactica" composer McCreary attributes the duduk's rise to "a current trend in films and television to branch away from the traditional orchestral score, which opens the door for unusual instruments and non-Western musical influences."

    His roots led him to the instrument. "I first introduced the sound of the duduk mainly as background color in my orchestration, simply as a way to represent my Armenian heritage," says McCreary, who first heard the duduk while researching and writing an opera based on his grandmother's exodus from Turkey after the 1915 Armenian genocide. "I was instantly struck by the haunting, vocal quality."

    - Bob Livingston est un ancien membre du Congrès américain (1999). Il s'est reconverti dans le lobbying rémunéré. Sa firme a fait un chiffre d'affaires de 1999 à 2004 s'élevant au total à 40 millions de dollars : "the Livingston Group represents the special interests of three foreign governments, Turkey, Morocco and the Cayman Islands. They have paid him $11 million from 2000 through 2004, with $9 million coming from Turkey."

    Among the Livingston Group’s most lucrative contracts are some that do not show up on lobby disclosure records filed with Congress. Since 2000, Livingston has taken in more than $11 million from foreign governments and the vast majority of that money, $9 million, has come from Turkey, with $1 million more each from Morocco and the Cayman Islands. [See Figure 9] Livingston’s representation of these foreign governments brought in a quarter of his company’s annual revenue in 2003 and 2004. In 2005, it was reported that Livingston picked up yet another foreign government client.
    Azerbaijan has signed a $300,000 a year contract with the Livingston Group.19 Timur Solylemez, the congressional liaison and first secretary of the Turkish embassy made it clear why the Livingston Group has his government’s lobbying business. “I don’t need to tell you who Mr. Livingston is, and having someone of his stature is obviously very helpful,”
    Solylemez said.20 He added that it is Livingston’s connections and former experience on the Hill that makes him a valuable resource. “His presence is a powerful one in Washington. With friends and allies like that, obviously your agenda becomes less difficult to pursue,” he said.

    - Vanity Fair, in its September issue, published a 10-page story on FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, who was fired after "she accused a colleague of covering up illicit activity involving Turkish nationals."
    According to the article by contributing editor David Rose, Edmonds claims FBI wiretaps reveal that the Turkish government and its allies boasted of bribing - with as much as $500,000 - the Speaker of the House of Representatives as part of an alleged deal to stop consideration of the Armenian Genocide Resolution.

    The article cites accounts by Edmonds regarding FBI wiretaps of the Turkish Embassy and Turkish groups such as the American Turkish
    Council (ATC) and the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA), including, "repeated references to Hastert's flip-flop in the fall of 2000, over an issue which remains of intense concern to the Turkish government, the continuing campaign to have Congress designate the killings of Armenians in Turkey between 1915 and 1923 a genocide."

  • "Aujourd'hui, après le vote du Parlement français, l'objectif mondial, politiquement parlant, c'est d'obtenir la reconnaissance du génocide arménien par les États-Unis.
    La lutte c'est ça, car lorsque les États-Unis auront reconnus le génocide, la Turquie ne pourra plus continuer à nier".

    Selon Patrick Devdjian, la journée consacrée aux Arméniens à la Cathédrale américaine de Paris a fait progresser, dans la conscience des anglo-saxons, la nécessité de la reconnaissance du génocide arménien.
